CRITICAL RACE DAY INFORMATION
2017 LAST PACKET PICKUP:
Thur. June 15th 5:00pm to 8:00pm at
Race packets include one shirt and bib number per team member. Race shirts, with bib numbers pinned on front, MUST be worn by all participants on race day. One of the Bibs has a radio chip on it. Protect and keep it on there. Sorry, but we CANNOT exchange shirt sizes at packet pickup, stop by our table the morning of the race to exchange your t-shirt for a different size.
YOUR BIB NUMBER:
Confirm your start time on your bib number. Food & drink tickets for participants are on the bottom of ONLY ONE of the team member's bibs. The other bib will be checked off by designated volunteers wearing sombreros during the race as you complete each challenge station.
The drink tickets on your bib are redeemable for beer, water or Gatorade at the post race party. Extra beer tickets will be available for $3, alternative beverage tickets for $1. We will be serving craft beer from Loveland's Narrow Path Brewery as well as Budweiser products. Food tickets on your bib are redeemable for lunch.
Write your number on the 2 cardboard cards you were given in your packet and thread the zip tie thru the holes and attach to your bike…..this is to help you to identify your bikes.
MAP RELEASE PARTY:
The course map will be released at the Map Release Party June 16th at 7PM at Grailville (932 O'Bannonville Rd, Loveland, OH 45140). Come join the pre-race party with appetizers from Texas Roadhouse and Pizza from the Worksand live music. There will be plenty of drinks available from the Mt. Carmel Brewing Company and Pepsi and water. The Race Map will also be sent out by email and posted on the web site about 9:00 PM.
GETTING TO THE RACE AND CHECKING IN ON RACE DAY:
Schoolhouse Restaurant in Camp Dennison (8031 Glendale Milford Road. Camp Dennison, Ohio 45111)
Loveland’s Nisbet Park 198 Harrison Ave, Loveland, OH 45140.
BIKE DROP OFF:
Bike drop off will be at: Camp Friedlander parking lot in Miami Township - 581 Ibold Rd, Loveland, OH 45140
Drop your bikes (Don't forget to attach your Bike tags that were in your packet!) and then drive yourself to the Loveland Elementary School - 600 Loveland Madeira Rd, Loveland, OH 45140 to park your vehicle and then take the bus back to Schoolhouse starting line. PLEASE make sure and plan to have your bikes at the Camp Friedlander bike corral in Miami Township at least 90 minutes before your start time to allow enough time to drive to Loveland and then ride the bus back to the Schoolhouse Restaurant. You should be on a bus riding back to the Schoolhouse Restaurant by at least 60 minutes before your start time.
Please follow the volunteer’s instructions for parking. After parking walk to the Bus Transportation Center in front of the Loveland Elementary School and board a bus. THE BUS IS ONLY FOR RACE PARTICIPANTS!
Riding the bus:
Race participants will ride the bus to the Schoolhouse Restaurant Starting Line. The race will begin on foot this year.
Getting back to your vehicle from Downtown Loveland after race: First, do not forget to get your bikes from the last Bike Corral! Second, proceed west on West Loveland Ave (over the bridge) turn left at the second traffic light on to Loveland-Madeira Rd and follow to the school campus where you parked your vehicle.
NOTE: TRANSPORTATION WILL NOT BE PROVIDED BACK TO the Schoolhouse Restaurant AFTER THE RACE!!
NOTE: PLEASE REFRAIN FROM PARKING IN THE BOND FURNITURE AND LOVELAND EAGLE’S PARKING LOTS. THESE ARE ACTIVE LOTS ON RACE DAY AND SHOULD BE RESERVED FOR THEIR PATRONS. THANK YOU!
WHAT TO BRING RACE DAY:
Race t-shirts, with bib numbers pinned on front, MUST be worn by all participants on race day. Each person must bring a bicycle and helmet. The course is suited to road bikes this year. Helmets must be worn during all bicycling. Your shoes and bike will likely take a beating, so we recommend wearing old shoes!
Bring whatever will make you comfortable to enjoy the post-race party. Hoses available for cleanup. If you want a dry shirt or whatever, have a friend bring it. You WILL GET WET, so don't bring anything with you that cannot get wet!
BRING YOUR AMAZING SENSE OF HUMOR AND HAVE FUN!!!!
You must have an ID with you at post race if you want to drink beer. The only ID check for beer this year will be at post race.
Team Lunch at the Amphitheater in Loveland's Nisbet Park will be LaRosa's Pizza, Chobi Yogurt, Corn on the cob, Chips and Banana's provided by Kroger. Use your food ticket here.
Ideal locations for family and spectators is the Miami Riverview Park on BranchHill-Loveland Rd, Historic Downtown Loveland, and Nisbet Park in Historic Loveland,. All three have fun challenges. Give the course map to family and friends so they can pick out places to watch you.
RULES OF THE ROAD:
At the start, you will be lined up in the starting chute by starting time and you will be on foot. Your bike and helmet will be staged at the place you dropped it off.
Beginning at 8:00 AM, 3 to 4 teams will be started every minute.
The very first leg of the race is on foot. You will then proceed back to the bikes and start the biking portion.
While on bike you must ride with traffic. On bike keep a careful eye out for hazards such as uneven pavement, gravel roads, muddy areas, street traffic and other teams. Remember you must have your bike helmet on while doing the bike portion at all times.
If law enforcement reports your bib number you may be disqualified.
Observe "Mandatory Dismounts." This means get off and walk or jog your bike.
While on foot you must stay on sidewalks when available and off the street. YOUR SAFETY IS YOUR FIRST CONSIDERATION.
Course has A STEEP downhill on bike with sharp turn. GO SLOW.
Course has rough, rocky and rural terrain that may be slippery while on foot. GO SLOW and watch your footing.
Observe signs along the course.
Provided Life Jackets are mandatory for the water portions of race.
At each challenge station you will complete the challenge and one member of your team must get your bib number marked to show completion of that station. Your team bib numbers will be the same but only one team member wears the bib that must be marked at each station. The other team member's bib has your drink and food tickets attached. Challenge Station Captains are the final authority for all decisions at that station. Their goal is to help everyone have a good time, run a fair competition and keep things moving.
The course will close at 3:00PM.
BE NICE - BE KIND - BE COURTEOUS TO OTHER RACERS AND VOLUNTEERS:
*** WE HAVE HAD SOME COMPLAINTS FROM VOLUNTEERS THAT WE HAVE HAD SOME RUDE CONTESTANTS. WHILE THIS IS NOT THE CASE FOR THE MAJORITY WE STILL MUST LET EVERYONE KNOW. IT SEEMS THE ACTS OF RUDENESS HAVE MOSTLY STEMMED AROUND OUR MOST COMPETITIVE TEAMS. WHILE WE WANT YOU ALL TO HAVE FUN AND BE COMPETITIVE, PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS IS A CHARITY EVENT WITH VOLUNTEERS. THERE IS NO RACE WITHOUT THEM! IF WE HEAR OF ANY RUDENESS TOWARDS ANY OF VOLUNTEERS YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE COURSE. THERE IS NO EXCEPTION TO THE RULE. IF YOU REFUSE TO LEAVE THE AUTHORITIES WILL ENFORCE THE RULE.***
FINISHING THE AMAZING RACE:
It is very hard to say but we are guessing 2.25 hours to finish but it may be longer or shorter. It will be fun and at the end you will feel like you've accomplished something!
FINISH LINE PARTY:
The party is at Nisbet Park in Historic Downtown Loveland, right on the Little Miami River. Lots of shade, picnic tables and river views.
It's time to relax and share stories. Plan to meet family and friends at Post Race Party. While your food and beverages are included in your registration it will also be available to family and friends at modest prices. Stick around for an afternoon of music, food, drink and telling tall tales from your race experience. Live music and good food available to all.

GETTING BACK TO YOUR CAR:
From the Post-Race Party walk to the nearby Bike Corral and retrieve your bikes then walk or ride them to your car.
Post-race Party ends at 3:30 pm. Bikes must be removed from the Bike Corral by 4:00 PM. Race and volunteers are not responsible for bikes. Bring bike lock if concerned. We have never had a bike stolen.
This is a rain or shine event. The event will be modified to deal with any weather issues. Should we encounter severe weather the race will be temporarily halted. All racers shall stop and follow given directions. When the “all clear” is given the the clock will and race will resume.
